Sensory

What actually is Sensory Sensitivity? Humans process all the information coming in through eyes, ears, nose, touch, taste, and sound to make sense of their environment. There are also two other kinds of senses involving Vestibular (movement/balance) and Kinesthesia (body awareness). When the processing of information coming from one or more of these senses is inaccurate or disrupted, it can cause avoidance behaviors such as avoiding loud noises, playground equipment, certain types of food and/or clothing. Or it can cause seeking behaviors such as needing firm hugs, constant movement, messy eating, and leaving handprints everywhere.

Sensory challenges often affect how children cope and behave when confronted with various situations. This may be affecting your family life, community involvement and the child’s productivity in school. Check out our Solutions and see how we can help!
